I Samuel 11-14

“Yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart” (12:20). The prophet Samuel reassured the people that, despite their sins, God would not abandon them.  If they continued to trust in His power to save, He would establish them securely.  King Saul doubted the Lord and tried to grab spiritual control himself (ch 13), producing disaster, but his son Jonathan trusted in God’s power to save “by many or by few” (14:6).

“For consider what great things He has done for you” (12:24). Rather than focusing on our own failures, God calls us to fix our eyes on His goodness and power.  As we trust Him, He continues to deliver us.
