Psalm 57
/“In the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by” (v1). David’s “storms of destruction” involved fleeing from King Saul and others who hated him, while believing that God’s purpose for him would not fail (v2). Our storm might be sickness, family conflict, job loss, or fear produced by political and societal upheavals. In every case, God is our refuge, and He helps our souls find peace “in the midst of lions” (v4). He gives us a steadfast heart of faith (v7).
“I cry out to God … who fulfills His purpose for me” (v2). Despite the storms, we know that God will fulfill His good purposes for us and in us.
