I Samuel 22-24

“I have not sinned against you, though you hunt my life to take it” (24:11).  When King Saul stumbled into the very cave in which David and his men were hiding, David had every right – by world’s rules – to kill him.  King Saul had attempted to murder David multiple times, and David was the anointed next king of Israel.  However, David chose to leave King Saul in God’s hands. “May the Lord avenge me against you, but my hand shall not be against you” (v12).

“The Lord forbid that I should do this thing” (v6). Just as David recognized a higher authority than the world, our own behavior is measured by the standard revealed in our King Jesus.
