I Samual 1-2

“The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble bind on strength” (2:4). Hannah’s song of praise, like Mary’s in the New Testament, rejoiced in the Lord’s goodness to those the world sees as nothing.  Hannah was a “second” wife living in a chaotic time, when Israel had no king, and the priests stole food and raped women (2:12-17, 22). Despite the corruption of Israel’s culture and leadership, Hannah believed in God’s mercy and prayed for a baby.  Her son, Samuel, changed Israel’s destiny.

“There is no Rock like our God” (2:2). When we pour out our hearts to God in faith, like Hannah did, He hears us and gives us our own song of praise.
