Proverbs 16
/“Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established” (v3). The proverbs urge us to tune our hearts to the Lord’s ways, so that we cooperate with His kingdom in our speech, behavior, and attitudes. Honoring God starts with humility. As we confess our tendency to justify whatever we want (v25), we ask for the Lord’s discernment and guidance in our decisions (v2). Arrogance, on the other hand, leads to trouble. “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (v18).
“Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty” (v32). Though it is opposite of the world’s path, embracing God’s way of self-control, humility, and kindness builds a foundation for a good life.
