I Corinthians 1

“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment” (v10).  Paul saw that human struggles for power were dividing the church. He urged them to remember that the church had one Head. “Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you?” (v13).  Even among believers, the “wisdom of the wise” was foolishness compared to the mind of God (v19-20).

“But we preach Christ crucified” (v23). The cross tells us that before God, we are all equally foolish, “so that no human being might boast” (v29). All our righteousness is in Him (v30).
