I Corinthians 2
/“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God” (v12). Paul reminded the Corinthian believers that Jesus Christ was rejected by “the spirit of the world.” Both the traditional religious leaders and the Romans missed God walking among them, because they were busy protecting their own power and comfort. The things of God are always “folly” to humans caught up in their own schemes for significance (v14). However, through Jesus, God’s Spirit teaches us a new way to live (v13).
“But we have the mind of Christ” (v16). Jesus’ self-emptying love on our behalf stands against the spirit of the world, and it is the power that won our salvation.
