I Corinthians 3

“For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?” (v3).  Paul’s words of correction demonstrate that the Corinthians were struggling to grow up and become “spiritual” rather than “infants in Christ” (v1).  Paul wanted them to focus on knowing and imitating Jesus rather than idolizing human leaders (v3-6). He reminded that Jesus is our Judge and our standard, not other people (v11-15).

“For all things are yours … and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s” (v23). We don’t have to fight desperately for power, dominance, or status, as the world does. We are free to love sacrificially because we belong to the Creator of all.
