I Corinthians 5
/“For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?” (v12). Paul mourned the way the Corinthian church was ignoring the unrepentant sexual immorality of one of its members (v1). He wasn’t concerned with the behavior of “the sexually immoral of this world” (v10), leaving them to God (v13), but he urged the Corinthians to deal with own sin (v11). Left unaddressed, this sin would poison the whole church and harm their worship and witness (v6).
“For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed” (v7). Jesus gave His life to redeem us from sin and purify us. We honor Him by becoming people of “sincerity and truth” (v8).
