Psalm 83

“O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God!” (v1).  The psalmist cried out for God to fight against Israel’s enemies (v3). As God’s people, they trusted Him to be their defender, even against vast armies and empires.  Through Jesus, God’s covenant love for Israel was extended to every human who runs to Him for refuge: “that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth” (v18).

United with God’s beloved Son by faith, Jews and Gentiles together are His “treasured ones” (v3).  When the chaos of sin threatens to destroy us, we can run to Him and find refuge.
