II Chronicles 26-27

“But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction” (26:16).  Many of Judah kings were neither wholly good nor bad. As leaders of God’s covenant people, the kings were supposed to reject idolatry and model dependence on the Lord, who had promised to be their defender and provide for them. King Uzziah “was marvelously helped” by God (26:15) and grew strong, but success made him arrogant, and he tried to usurp the role of the priests (v16). As punishment, God struck him with leprosy.

“Go out of the sanctuary” (26:18). God will not tolerate arrogance and pride among His people.  However, when we humble ourselves, He is quick to rescue, forgive, and lift us up.
