Psalm 132
/“For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: “This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell” (13-14). King David was known as someone who honored the ark of the covenant (8) and desired to build a Temple for the Lord (1-5). He recognized that God’s commitment to dwell among His people (“Zion”) was the best possible promise, because when the Lord is among us, we have everything we need – provision, blessing, salvation, joy (15-16).
“Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool!” (7). We don’t have to go to a particular place, because Jesus came to us. Through Him, God’s Spirit dwells in us and among us.
