Proverbs 28
/“If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination” (v9). The proverbs teach us the importance of following God’s revealed will (the ‘law’), because the way we conduct our relationships and work matters to Him. As His image-bearers, we prosper when we obey Him, and the people around us are also blessed (v2). Rather than ritual or ceremonial law, the proverbs refer to following God in areas like honesty (v13), how we handle money (v22,25), caring for the poor (v27), integrity (v18), hard work (v19), etc.
“A faithful man will abound with blessings” (v20). The good life we desire is built little by little through daily faithfulness.
