Psalm 135-136

“Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant!” (135:3). Worship includes praising God’s “name,” which means detailing His amazing acts and His glorious character. The Lord “does whatever He pleases” (v6); because of His mercy and love He chose Israel to be a blessing to the world and rescued them from Egypt (v4,9). In contrast, “the idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands” (v15), and when we lean on them, they fail us. We become more and more like what we worship (v18).

“Praise the Lord!” (v1). As we praise God for His great mercy in our lives, our hearts are encouraged and our faith renewed.
