Psalm 138
/“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life” (v7). The psalmist believed that God was protecting and preserving him, despite the troubles that are part of life in this world. Enemies, threats, and danger could not stop the Lord’s good and loving plan: “The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever” (v8). Reaching out to the Lord in humility, not arrogance, opened the door for God to pour out strength and help (v3,6).
“My strength of soul you increased” (v3). God increases our “strength of soul” by walking with us through trouble; as we call on Him, He proves His kindness, faithfulness, and mercy.
