Amos 1-3
/“For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have rejected the law of the LORD” (2:4). Godpronounced the same judgment on Judah as He did on Gaza (1:6) and Tyre (1:9). Being “God’s people” did not give Judah or Israel freedom to do whatever they wanted; in fact, their rebellion was worse because they had experienced God’s rescue. Because Israel “sold the needy for a pair of sandals” (2:6), they provoked God’s wrath.
“It was I who brought you up out of the land of Egypt” (2:10). God shows mercy to us in Christ so that, as His redeemed children, we will walk in His ways and show mercy to others.
