Joel 1-3

“Blow a trumpet in Zion; sound an alarm on my holy mountain!” (2:1). The prophet Joel warned that the Day of Lord was near, a day of judgment, “darkness and gloom” (2:2). God’s people had forsaken Him and were in danger of losing their inheritance and being overrun by their enemies. Yet God called them to repentance: “Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster” (2:12-13).

God not only promises forgiveness, but also to “pour out My Spirit on all flesh” (2:28). He promises to completely renew and empower everyone who calls on Him by faith.
