Revelation 6

“Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth ...” (v4). In John’s great apocalyptic vision, the Lamb opens one of the seven seals and four horses of doom are unleashed on the earth. The result is a picture of life on earth without the goodness and mercy of God: humans experience “conquering,” the absence of peace, scarcity, and death. John’s vision describes the ultimate consequences of humanity pursuing their own way apart from the Source of love and life.

“Who can stand?” (v17). No one is worthy to “stand” before God’s throne, except the Lamb. When our trust is in Him and not ourselves, we have nothing to fear.
