Psalm 147
/“The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel” (2). Rather than choosing the winners, the best and brightest of humanity, our merciful God welcomes those who know they are weak, those who are alone and those cast out by society. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (3). Because this is the same Lord who numbers and names the stars (4), He is not impressed by earthly or human strength (10). Instead, He “takes pleasure in those who hope in His steadfast love” (11).
“He fills you with the finest of the wheat” (14). The healing and wholeness offered by our Lord far surpasses any life we can build on our own.
