Habakkuk 3

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines ...yet I will rejoice in the Lord” (v17-18). Habakkuk did not yet see God’s salvation; he lived under Assyrian domination and feared the coming of the Babylonians. Yet, he remembered God’s actions in the past, when “You went out for the salvation of Your people” (3:13) and rescued Israel from Egyptian slavery. He believed this same Redeemer would come at the right time and again rescue His people.

“I will take joy in the God of my salvation” (3:18). Even when our efforts seem to be fruitless or our plans have failed, God has not forgotten us. His good purposes for us will be accomplished.
