Revelation 18

“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!” (2). John saw an angel announcing the destruction of “Babylon,” symbol of humanity’s persistent, unrepentant rebellion against the Lord. The evil powers that entice men and women to turn their backs on the goodness of God to engage in “sexual immorality” and indulge in “luxurious living” will finally be broken (3,7). John heard a voice calling “Come out of her, my people,” (4), urging believers to seize the opportunity to find refuge in God’s salvation.

“What city is like the great city?” (18). Without the Lord, our achievements and wealth end up harming the vulnerable and destroying God’s image in us. He invites us to be part of His city, full of grace and mercy.
