Revelation 20

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it” (11). Despite endless debates about the “thousand year” interlude described in this chapter, the point is clear. Those who suffered most under the earthly power of evil forces (4) were promised years of peace and joy under the Messiah’s reign. In John’s day, ordinary believers lost their lives for Jesus’ sake, but this vision reminded them that the One seated on the throne would have the last word.

“Then another book opened, which is the book of life” (12). Our faith, sufferings, and spiritual victories might not be noticed on earth, but the true account of our lives is in the hands of our Savior and Lord.
