I Corinthians 10
/“Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry” (v14). The Israelites in the Old Testament experienced amazing miracles and the Presence of God, yet many of them “were overthrown in the wilderness” because they desired evil. Paul warned the Corinthians to heed their example and stay away from sinful behaviors such as sexual immorality, grumbling, and faithlessness (v8-10). The temptations we confront are nothing new, and God is eager to help us escape the traps of the devil and to stand firm (v13).
“Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (v31). When we live for God’s glory and our neighbor’s good (v24), idolatry loses its power over us.
