Job 6-8

“If I sin, what do I do to you, you watcher of mankind?” (7:20).  Job knew that God oversaw the universe, and therefore he believed that God had caused his sufferings. In pain, blaming God for his troubles, Job cried out, “Leave me alone” (7:16).  He couldn’t see why his behavior (v20) mattered to God, and it seemed that to be forgotten would be easier than to be a key player in God’s story.

“What is man, that you make so much of him, and that you set your heart on him?” (7:17). We aren’t anonymous, random pieces of the universe. God sets his heart on us for our good, because His purpose for us is glory (Romans 8:17).
