Job 13-15

“Though He slay me, I will hope in him” (13:15).  Job had no answer to the question of why he had lost his health, his family, and all his possessions.  He rejected the advice of his friends: “Your maxims are proverbs of ashes” (13:12).  He had no sure belief in the afterlife -” if a man dies, shall he live again?” (14:14).  Yet, Job continued to hope in God, even facing death.

“All the days of my service I would wait, till my renewal should come” (14:14). While Job wondered if “renewal” was possible, we know it is a sure thing. Jesus’ resurrection is our guarantee that despite our losses here on earth, God will make “all things new.”
