Psalm 92
/“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning …” (v1-2). Praising God is “good” because we naturally want to respond to His kindness; He has “made me glad” and “I sing for joy” (v4). While God’s enemies diminish (v9), those who praise the Lord remain connected to His abundant life: “The righteous flourish like a palm tree … they flourish in the courts of our God” (v13).
“They still bear fruit in old age … to declare that the Lord is upright” (v14-15). Praise keeps our spiritual lives from atrophy as we focus not on ourselves, but on God’s steadfast love.
