Psalm 96
/“Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all thepeoples!” (v2-3). Telling of God’s salvation and His marvelous works means giving hope to people who are serving “worthless idols” (v5). The “gods” that people serve through false religions can’t help them and ultimately lead to harm, just like the idols of wealth, sex, power, and self-worship. Therefore, the psalmist urges us to “Say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns!’” (v10).
“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice” (v11). There is no greater joy than serving the One who made everything, knows us, and chose to redeem us.
