Job 34-36
/“What advantage have I? How am I better off than if I had sinned?” (35:3). Elihu was horrified that Job dared to ask this question and to complain, argue, and cry out to the Lord. Elihu believed that the Almighty was untouchable and unaffected by Job’s situation (35:6). “Surely God does not hear an empty cry …” (35:13-14). Thankfully, we know that Job’s cry was not empty or useless. God was listening, and in the end, God responded (ch 42).
“Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night …?” (35:10). Job’s example reassures us that the Lord can handle our questions, our frustrations, and even our anger. He “rewards those who seek Him” (Heb 11:6).
