Ephesians 1:1-14

“In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ ... to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved” (v4-6). Paul told the church at Ephesus that because we are God’s adopted sons and daughters through Jesus, the Beloved, we share the wonderful “inheritance” of the Son (v11). United with Jesus, we receive forgiveness, redemption, and grace. The Holy Spirit in our hearts now is the deposit or guarantee of all the blessings to come (v14).

“In him we have redemption ... which he lavished on us” (v8). The love between Father and Son overflowed for our redemption and one day will “unite all things” in Christ (v10).
