Ephesians 2:1-10

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us ...” (v4). Paul explained to the church that our salvation, from beginning to end, is motivated by God’s great love. “Even when we were dead in our trespasses,” in other words, when we were undeserving “children of wrath” (v3), He loved us and “made us alive together with Christ.” Before we repented, He prepared the gift of salvation through Jesus: “by grace you have been saved through faith” (v8).

As God’s own “workmanship” (v10), we can be confident that our lives have meaning. We were created “for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (v10).
