Psalm 98

“Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things!” (v1). The psalmist rejoiced that God is not distant; He comes close and does “marvelous things.” God spectacularly rescued Israel so that the world would see His power and mercy. “The LORD has made known his salvation ... in the sight of the nations” (v2). The whole earth worships this self-revealing God: “Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth ... let the sea roar ... let the rivers clap their hands” (v4-8).

“All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God” (v3). While we were sinners, God loved us enough to show us His salvation in Jesus the Son.
