Psalm 103
/“The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love ... He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities” (v8-10). The God of Abraham that the psalmist knew is the same God revealed to us completely in Jesus Christ. From the beginning, God’s character has been the same: He forgives our sins, heals our diseases, and redeems our lives from the destruction caused by sin (v3-4). He is full of mercy and compassion.
God desires to forgive us and “satisfy us with good” (v5) not because we deserve it, but because He is the eternal Source of self-giving, sacrificial love.
