Psalm 104

“Living things both small and great ...look to you, to give them their food in due season” (v25-27). The psalmist rejoiced that God cares for the rich, abundant world He created. “You make springs gush forth in the valleys ... the wild donkeys quench their thirst” (10,11). Far from being independent, we humans are part of the same God-ordained, orderly world as the animals: “The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God ... man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening” (v21-23).

“The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly” (v16). We are part of a world that depends on God’s grace, and we can trust that He will provide for us.
