Isaiah 27-30

“Ah, stubborn children,” declares the LORD, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit” (30:1). God said that the Israelites, faced with danger, turned toward Egypt instead of the Lord. Israel was God’s own “vineyard” (ch 27), yet they trusted in ungodly sources of strength instead of running to Him when they were threatened. Isaiah warned them that disaster was coming unless they repented. “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength” (30:15).

“Let them make peace with me” (27:5). Ungodly sources of protection, strength, or comfort become idols that harm us. Instead, God wants us to run to Him.
