Psalm 110
/“The LORD says to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool’” (v1). Quoted at least 8 times in the New Testament, this psalm speaks of the Messiah’s rule at God’s right hand, even “in the midst of your enemies” (v2), and the Messiah’s unique priestly role on behalf of His people (v4). As Hebrews 7 points out, our mighty Priest-King reigns “forever” (v4); His atonement for our sins never runs out, and He intercedes for us always.
“Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power” (v3). We get to freely offer our allegiance to the One who stands with us as Priest and conquers as King.
