Isaiah 51-52

“For the LORD comforts Zion; he comforts all her waste places and makes her wilderness like Eden, her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness will be found in her” (51:3). Isaiah’s words about the restored “Zion” comforted the oppressed Israelites and pointed to a greater salvation: “the ransomed of the Lord shall return” (v11) including the “coastlands” and foreign “peoples” who put their hope in Him (51:5). The glories of Zion, where God dwells with His own ransomed people, are open to all who receive His salvation (52:10).

We are entrusted with the “good news of happiness” (52:7) that our Savior reigns in Zion, and He welcomes us all by faith (52:7).
