II Timothy 4

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (v7). Paul’s end was near, but Timothy’s life of service was just beginning (v1,5). He wanted Timothy to be prepared for the spiritual obstacles he would face. “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions” (v3). He urged Timothy to “be ready” (v2) and to follow his example.

“The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom” (v18). We can trust that what we do for Jesus has eternal significance, and He will bring us safely home.
