Jeremiah 9-10

Jeremiah weeps for the sin of God's people. It doesn't matter that they are physically circumcised. Their sin and idolatry are no different than the nations around them. (10:25-26). God implores them not to trust in themselves nor in their own power, prestige, or wealth, but instead to embrace His ways of "steadfast love, justice, and righteousness" (10:23-24).

It is easy to see the sins of the "world" but often we are not so different than those outside of God's people. We trust in things other than the goodness of God. The church is at its best when we are honest about our own sin and pursue things that God delights in.
