Hebrews 3
/“So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief” (v19). The author of Hebrews urged believers facing persecution and pressure to remember that they shared “a heavenly calling,” because they were united with Jesus the faithful One. He warned believers not to lose their confidence like the ancient Israelites did, after they were led out of Egypt and then hardened their hearts in the desert (v7-13). Despite many miracles, they were enticed by “the deceitfulness of sin” (v13).
“For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end” (v14). Jesus, “the apostle and high priest of our confession,” understands us and leads us to the Father (v1).
