1 Peter 1

“According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (v3). Peter explained that through Jesus we are “born again” into a glorious new reality that includes an eternal inheritance. In the present, despite trials, the Holy Spirit makes the presence of Jesus real in our hearts and lives. “Though you do not see him, you love him ... and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible” (v8). This faith in the living Christ is “more precious than gold” (v7).

“As obedient children ... be holy in all your conduct” (v14-15). When the Spirit makes Jesus real to our hearts, we begin to follow Him in obedience.
