Proverbs 1-3

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (2:6). The proverbs declare that the Lord is the source of wisdom and gives it freely; however, we must “search for it as hidden treasure” (2:4). God wants us to understand and follow “every good path” (2:9), yet we are surrounded by other voices enticing us to destruction (1:10-19). God’s path is the way of peace and abundant life (3:17-18), but our human natures are tempted by shortcuts and false promises of pleasure.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart ... in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (3:5-6). The path to the life we desire begins with trusting Jesus.
