Psalm 148
/“Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars” (3). The Scriptures tell us that all of God’s creation praises him in some mysterious way. “At his command they were created” (5), and like the star that guided the wise men to the Messiah, everything exists for his purposes. The psalmist calls on all God’s creatures to praise him, from “small creatures and flying birds” to “kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, young men and women, old men and children” (10-12).
We praise the Lord because he is Creator and King, and although we rejected him, he reached down to show us mercy - “the people close to his heart” (14).
