Psalm 126

“When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed” (1). The psalmist led all Israel in celebrating the ways God had restored their brokenness and healed their grief. Even when their exile or loss was self-inflicted, God had mercy: “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” (3). They trusted that God would continue his work of restoration and bring good fruit even from hardship. “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy” (5).

God restores and redeems what we put in his hands. Whatever our present difficulty, we can trust he will bring us back to “songs of joy” (6).
