Hebrews 9-10
/“For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence” (9:24). Hebrews explains that the Old Testament system of sacrifices was a “copy” or shadow of the real thing. Priests repeatedly offered sacrifices which provided ceremonial cleansing but could not take away sins (10:1-4). But now, “we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (10:10).
Because Jesus’ death completely covered our sins forever, we can enter God’s presence. “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings” (10:22).
