Psalm 60
/The Psalm is set in a two-front battle. While David was finding success in the north he is challenged in the south. Now he is fighting on two borders. He feels “rejected” (v1) by God and “shaken up” (v2) and Israel is living in “desperate times” (v3).
We often live as if everything is under our control, that we are the masters of our own fates. But reality sets in and we face difficulty. It is then that we cry out to the Lord, “save us” (v5). Our own strength is not sufficient to win the battle for “human help is worthless” (v11). But when we place our trust in Him, we “gain the victory” (v12).
