John 15
/“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit” (5). Jesus taught the disciples that being “in him” was not simply a matter of having the right ideas. Instead, faith that produces fruit means “remaining” or “abiding” in his love, trusting him enough to follow his pattern of life (10), and passing on what we receive from him. More than an abstract belief, faith is continuing trust in the living Savior.
“Remain in my love ... love each other as I have loved you” (9-12). When we know and love Jesus, our life “in him” is revealed by how we love those made in his image.
