Psalm 20

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God” (7). This psalm of blessing for a king and his people reminds us that our own strength is never sufficient and leaning on worldly wealth or weapons for our security leads to trouble. But as God’s people, we can put our lives in his hands. “May the Lord answer you when you are in distress ... May he send you help from the sanctuary” (1-2).

“May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed” (4). As God’s people, we can entrust the desires of our hearts to our wise and good Father.
