Mark 16

“As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed” (5). The women at the tomb were there to faithfully care for Jesus’ body (1), and suddenly everything changed. The stone rolled away, the angels, and the news of the resurrection initially caused fear and trembling. Yet Jesus’ work was not dependent on their understanding or confidence; he died and rose for them, just as they were.

“He has risen!” (6). Jesus’ power does not depend on our emotional state. Faith is basing our whole lives on what Jesus has done for us, in us, and what he promises to do through us by his Spirit.
