Psalm 26

“Lord, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells. Do not take away my soul along with sinners” (8). Rather than claiming to be sinless, the psalmist was expressing his longing to be “vindicated” (1) – to know that his commitment to the Lord would be proven right in the end. “I have lived in reliance on your faithfulness” (3), he said, despite temptations and idolatry all around (4-6). Others chose a different path. The psalmist was asking ‘is following God worth it’?

“My feet stand on level ground” (12). A life built on faith in God, despite the challenges we face, is ultimately secure. Our Creator’s unshakeable love holds us now and forever.
