Psalms 129-131

“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you” (130:3-4). The psalmist knew that he (and all Israel) was in desperate need of mercy. He longed to meet with God and experience forgiveness and restoration: “my whole being waits” (130:5). Like a quiet and trusting child (ch 131), he waited for God’s help, God’s love, and God’s rescue (ch 129).

“For with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption” (130:7). Full redemption means that God holds nothing back. When we repent and he restores us, we are free to love and serve him without fear (130:4).
